Job summary

Diocese of Worcester in Worcester Cathedral is seeking an Assistant Directorate Safeguarding Officer to ensure safeguarding is at the heart of all activities. The role provides safeguarding support to Worcester Cathedral and the wider Diocese of Worcester.

Based at Worcester Cathedral and Diocesan Office, the post is 35 hours per week in a collaborative team. The Diocese offers a generous, non-contributory pension and a supportive working environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial safeguarding experience in a relevant profession.
• Ability to advise and exercise sound judgement in line with safeguarding policy.
• Excellent communicator who can work with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong integrity, resilience and team spirit.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding work across Worcester Cathedral, delivering preventative support.
• Respond compassionately to victims and survivors of abuse.
• Train and build confidence in others on safeguarding best practices.
• Support senior leaders in developing healthy safeguarding cultures.
