Job summary

Spire Leicester Hospital is recruiting a SACT Nurse to join the Cancer Services team on site in Oadby, Leicester. You will deliver chemotherapy and supportive care within a specialist MDT, acting as a key worker for oncology patients throughout their journey.

The role requires current NMC registration, SACT qualification, and proven experience in venepuncture, cannulation and CVAD management, with strong clinical judgement and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Be currently registered with the NMC and eligible to practice in the UK.
• Must hold an accredited SACT qualification and/or UKONS SACT Passport.
• Experience delivering chemotherapy and intravenous therapies.
• Competent in venepuncture, cannulation and CVAD management.
• Oncology experience with ability to manage complex patient caseload.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and supportive care.
• Provide specialist advice and support to patients and families from diagnosis through treatment.
• Manage a caseload of oncology patients as a key worker throughout the pathway.
• Carry out patient assessments, care planning and evaluate treatment outcomes.
• Collaborate with Consultants and multidisciplinary teams for seamless care.
• Demonstrate venepuncture, cannulation, CVAD management and chemo administration.
• Recognise and manage treatment-related complications including neutropenic sepsis.
• Participate in Oncology telephone triage services.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote best practice.

Spire Leicester Hospital is looking for an experienced and compassionate SACT Nurse to join our dedicated Cancer Services team.

You'll be part of a specialist multidisciplinary team committed to clinical excellence, innovation, and outstanding patient outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Deliver safe, evidence-based systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and supportive care.
• Provide specialist advice and support to patients and their families from diagnosis through treatment.
• Manage a caseload of oncology patients, acting as a key worker throughout their pathway.
• Undertake patient assessments, care planning, and evaluation of treatment outcomes.
• Work closely with Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
• Demonstrate expertise in venepuncture, cannulation, CVAD management, and chemotherapy administration.
• Recognise and manage treatment-related complications, including extravasation, anaphylaxis, and neutropenic sepsis.
• Participate in oncology telephone triage services.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote best practice across Cancer Services.

What We're Looking For

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Accredited SACT qualification and/or UKONS SACT Passport.
• Experience administering chemotherapy and intravenous therapies.
• Competence in venepuncture, cannulation, and central venous access device management.
• Oncology experience with the ability to manage a complex patient caseload.
• Strong clinical judgement, communication, and organisational skills.
• UKONS triage experience and knowledge of neutropenic sepsis management are desirable.
