Job summary

Lancashire Constabulary’s Digital Forensics Operational Support seeks a Victim Identification Officer based at Hutton Headquarters. You will support ICE Teams by identifying victims and gathering evidence for live investigations and prosecutions, using cutting-edge forensics alongside traditional methods.

You will coordinate CAID referrals, liaise with the National Crime Agency, and pursue ongoing training through a Lancashire/NCA/industry pathway to stay at the forefront of this field.

Qualifications

• Level 1 of the Public Protection Learning Programme (PPLP) completed or in progress within 12 months.
• CAID User Training to be completed within 6 months of start date.
• CAID National Adjudicators Course completed or in progress within 6 months.
• College of Policing / NCA-CEOP Victim ID course within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Identify victims of child abuse and provide evidence to support live investigations and prosecutions.
• Act as Victim Identification SPOC for Lancashire re CAID use and referrals to NCA.
• Stay updated on new technology and software to keep Lancashire at the cybercrime forefront.

Lancashire Constabulary’s Digital Forensics Operational Support Team is seeking a Victim Identification Officer to be based at Hutton Headquarters.

If you want to play a crucial part in the global protection of children, this role is for you.

As Lancashire's Victim Identification Officer, your work will enable police officers in Lancashire's new Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Teams and beyond to identify and protect real victims of abuse, and bring perpetrators to justice. With cutting-edge digital forensic techniques and traditional investigation, you will uncover clues which will be used to identify key information present in child sexual abuse material.

Supported by Media Classifier/CAID Support officers, you will play a leading role in Lancashire's use of the national Child Abuse Image Database (CAID) which holds unique hash values for every known indecent image. To ensure your continued professional development, you will be supported with a bespoke training pathway from Lancashire, the National Crime Agency and industry leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

• To identify victims of child abuse and provide evidence that supports live investigations and the prosecution of suspects.
• To act as the Victim Identification SPOC for Lancashire in relation to the use of CAID and coordinate all referrals and communications into the National Crime Agency Victim Identification Team and to support CEOP and the National Victim Identification strategy.
• To keep abreast of new technology and software programmes to ensure that Lancashire Constabulary remains at the cutting edge of Cybercrime advances.

Eligible applicants must align to the following:

• Level 1 of the Public Protection Learning Programme (PPLP) or be prepared to work towards and complete within 12 months from commencement in role.
• CAID User Training (prepared to work towards and complete within 6 months from commencement in role.)
• College of policing national Categorising IIOC – Grading / CAID Awareness or be prepared to work towards and complete within 6 months from commencement in role.
• CAID National Adjudicators Course or prepared to work towards and complete within 6 months from commencement in role.
• College of Policing / NCA-CEOP Victim ID course or be prepared to work towards and complete within 6 months from commencement in role.

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass MV Vetting Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency requirement for MV vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.

Please note, candidates successful at shortlisting will be required to undertake an assessment as part of the interview process. This will consist of a Psychological Screening Test.
