Job summary

RUMS Rugby is seeking a passionate, experienced coach to lead and develop both the 1st XV and 2nd XV at our university club. You will run weekly training, manage pre-game warmups, and help select squads while fostering a respectful, inclusive culture.

This role includes optional paid online analysis and ongoing coaching development. The position requires RFU Level 2 coaching, proven coaching experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• RFU Level 2 Coaching Award is required.
• Experience in sports coaching with strong techniques and strategies.
• Excellent communication to engage athletes of mixed abilities.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks.
• First Aid qualification is desirable but not required.
• Public Liability Insurance.

Responsibilities

• Develop the 1st XV and 2nd XV players during training sessions.
• Lead weekly training sessions, Sunday 2-4pm, ensuring that all participants are engaged and learning effectively.
• Attend 1st XV fixtures, typically on a Wednesday afternoon, taking responsibility for the pre-game warmup and player management.
• When there are no matches, leading a training session would be expected (2-4pm).
• Work with the 1st XV Captain each week to select a squad.
• Help foster a supportive and inclusive team culture that promotes respect, discipline, and enjoyment of the sport.
• Stay updated on coaching techniques and trends within the sport.
• Watch video recordings of games and provide occasional paid online analysis sessions.

Come coach a side in the oldest rugby cup in the world [1][2]. Job Summary: RUMS Rugby are looking for a passionate and experienced coach to join our university club. We aspire to bring as much energy and buy-in into sessions as possible and thus are looking for a coach who can match that same desire. The ability to train a club with two sides (1s and 2s) of varying degrees of university level skill is something we also are looking for. Having won it in 2025 and being finalists for the year before that, we guarantee to bring you such enthusiasm and effort to have a chance of that victory in this upcoming season. Not only could you coach us in this prestigious event but there are many other competitions and matches we take part in: The United Hospitals Plate (the 2s equivalent of the UH Cup) [4]; The South Eastern Conference Cup [5]; we are apart of The London Varsity series (UCL vs KCL) [6]; and throughout the season we compete in the BUCS Rugby Union League [7].
