Job summary

Scarisbrick Hall School is seeking an enthusiastic Rugby Coach to join our busy PE and Sport Department. You will plan and deliver engaging rugby sessions, support the fixtures programme and help create positive rugby experiences for pupils across different ages and abilities.

The role requires RFU Level 2 coaching qualification (or progression towards it), excellent communication and teamwork, and a willingness to work flexible after‑school and weekend commitments; a DBS check will be completed

Qualifications

  • RFU or World Rugby Level 2 coaching qualification, or actively working towards one.
  • Strong understanding of coaching principles appropriate for school-aged pupils.
  • Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS check and safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver age-appropriate rugby sessions.
  • Support development of rugby across all year groups.
  • Assist with after-school training, fixtures and school events.
  • Support pupils of various abilities and promote inclusivity.
  • Communicate with pupils, colleagues and parents to maintain high standards.

Job description

Location: Southport Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire, L39 1LN

Start date: As soon as possible

Contract: Full-time, annualised contract

Hours: 33.6 hours per week

Salary: £13.75 per hour

A term-time-only arrangement will also be considered.

For candidates interested in pursuing a career in teaching, there may be an opportunity to undertake a funded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) teacher-training pathway.

As part of our continued investment in sport, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious Rugby Coach to join our thriving PE and Sport Department.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated and highly organised rugby coach to support the delivery and continued development of rugby across the school.

Working closely with the Head of Rugby and the wider coaching team, the successful candidate will help plan and deliver high-quality coaching sessions, support the school’s extensive training and fixture programme, and create positive rugby experiences for pupils across a wide range of ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, challenging and age-appropriate rugby sessions.
  • Support the continued development of rugby across all year groups.
  • Assist with after-school training sessions, midweek and Saturday fixtures, and wider school sporting events.
  • Support the development of pupils across a broad range of experience and ability levels.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents to maintain high standards of organisation and teamwork.
  • Promote positive relationships, respect and inclusivity in all aspects of school life.
  • Contribute positively to a supportive and ambitious PE and Sport Department.

  • Hold a minimum RFU or World Rugby Level 2 coaching qualification, or be actively working towards one.
  • Have a strong understanding of coaching principles appropriate for school-aged pupils.
  • Be available to support after-school training sessions, fixtures and Saturday rugby commitments when required.
  • Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check and comply fully with the school’s safeguarding requirements.
