Job summary

Royal Mail in Wales (Cwmbran) is recruiting flexible (temporary) postal delivery drivers. You’ll deliver letters and parcels on your round, combining driving the Royal Mail van with periods of walking to complete routes.

Shifts vary and require teamwork, adaptability, and a willingness to pass a driving assessment on start. The role offers active outdoor work and a chance to serve local communities.

Qualifications

• Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag up to 16kg.
• Shifts can vary and require teamwork and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver letters and parcels as part of your round, driving the Royal Mail delivery van and sometimes delivering on foot.
• Securely deliver all items on your route and handle election materials and certain items in line with Royal Mail standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Driving Licence: Full, manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 points – you’ll be driving a Royal Mail van as part of your round.
• Physical Fitness: Be prepared to walk 20,000 steps a day, get in and out of your van regularly, and carry a mailbag weighing up to 16kg.
• Flexibility: Shifts can vary, so we need team players who can adapt at short notice.

Your Role

As a Post Person with Driving, you’ll be the face of Royal Mail in your community, ensuring letters and parcels are delivered come rain or shine. You’ll drive round your delivery area, completing parts of your route on foot, providing exceptional service and ensuring every item reaches its destination safely.

You’re expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.

Important to Know

While large parts of the role involves walking, driving a Royal Mail delivery van is also a key requirement. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy being outdoors and staying active throughout the day. Please note: you’ll be required to pass a driving assessment when you start.

The table below outlines the pay rates applicable for roles within our Delivery Offices. The rates displayed are payable for the entirety of your shift where the shift description criteria is met.

Rates could be subject to change during busy periods, Angard staffing will communicate any change to your pay rates in advance.
