Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust seeks registered or soon-to-be registered pharmacy technicians to join our team at Southampton General Hospital. This rotating Band 4/5 post offers structured progression toward Band 5, with supportive development and competency-based training.

You will work across the pharmacy department, including cross-site duties with RSH and SCAS, and be guided to complete core competencies for upgrade to Band 5.

Qualifications

• Registered pharmacy technician with GPhC or working towards registration.
• BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ3 with underpinning knowledge.
• GCSE Maths/English or equivalent; IELTS if overseas.
• Experience with hospital pharmacy dispensing and aseptics is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Dispense and label accurately; training through competency-based learning.
• Support medication management across SGH, RSH and SCAS.
• Take accurate medication histories at ward level and advise patients.
• Produce IV antibiotics, TPN and cytotoxic infusions in aseptic units.
