Job summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work across the Dispensary, Aseptic unit and Procurement in a rotational capacity. You will gain experience across hospital pharmacy practices while upholding professional standards.

Prior hospital experience is desirable but not essential; full training and development will be provided to fulfil specialist duties, including participation in accreditation schemes where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Labelling, dispensing and final accuracy checking of prescriptions
  • Receiving and issuing prescriptions
  • Assist with day-to-day supervision and coordination of aseptic preparation, dispensing and checking activities
  • Preparation of injectable medicines using aseptic technique in pharmaceutical isolators
  • Assist with day-to-day orderings of standard medicines
  • Assist with processing invoices, and escalating discrepancies
  • Assist Procurement Technician and Lead Procurement Technician with projects to improve auditability and efficiency

Job description

The role will require you to work in various sections of the pharmacy department undertaking technician duties on a rotational basis, (Dispensary, Aseptic services, Procurement) whilst demonstrating professional attitudes and behaviours in line with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Standards for Pharmacy Professionals. The post will be rotational, and involve the successful candidate working in our Dispensary, the Aseptic unit and other areas such as Procurement. Prior hospital experience is desirable but not essential. Successful candidates will be given full training and development in order to fulfil specialist duties for this post. (Including participation in accreditation schemes if applicable)
