Job summary

Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering a rotational post for occupational therapists, open to final year students, newly qualified staff awaiting HCPC registration, and experienced therapists.

The role involves managing inpatient and community caseloads, conducting patient assessments, contributing to MDT goal planning, and delivering therapy to support safe discharge. A car is required for community visits, and seven-day service shifts are part of the rota.

Qualifications

• Degree in occupational therapy and ongoing professional development.
• HCPC registration, or due to qualify within 3 months.
• Experience in medical, respiratory, neurological, and orthopaedic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient or community caseload using respiratory, medical, neurological and orthopaedic skills.
• Complete patient assessments on wards or in the community and support safe discharge.
• Contribute to board rounds and goal planning meetings.
• Communicate with therapists and MDT members, including nurses and consultants.
• Treat patients on post-operative pathways and ensure adherence to rehabilitation plans.
• Work seven-day service shifts and weekend rotas as required.
• Supervise students or therapy assistants and participate in supervision.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure confidentiality.
• Attend training to maintain competency and evaluate own practice.
