Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Rotational Midwife to join Women’s Services across Leeds General Infirmary, St James’s University Hospital and community settings. You will provide safe, evidence-based, personalised care to women, birthing people and their babies throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

This varied role offers internal rotation across maternity services, including day and night shifts, within a large tertiary maternity service

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification and current NMC registration as a midwife.
• Successful completion of an LTHT midwifery preceptorship programme or equivalent.
• Significant midwifery experience, with sound knowledge of current professional and clinical issues.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 Rotational Midwife to join Women’s Services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Working across Leeds General Infirmary, St James’s University Hospital and community settings, you will provide safe, evidence-based, personalised care to women, birthing people and their babies throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

This varied role offers internal rotation across maternity services, including day and night shifts, within a large tertiary maternity service supporting approximately 10,000 births each year. You will bring strong clinical judgement, excellent communication and a flexible, collaborative approach, while supporting colleagues and contributing to the leadership and continuous improvement of care.

What you will bring to the role

• Degree or equivalent qualification and current NMC registration as a midwife.

• A professional, compassionate and patient-focused approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
• Strong assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation skills, with clear and accurate record keeping.
• Clinical leadership, time-management and organisational skills.
• Ability to teach, supervise and assess qualified and unqualified staff.
• Flexibility to rotate across hospital and community settings and work day and night shifts.
• Ability to travel to community settings and women’s homes.
