Job description

The Room Manager has a duty of care for all children placed in their care and overall management within the room.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the safety and well-being of children in their care, managing the room effectively.
  2. Manage staff to prepare and supervise activities that create a stimulating environment, ensuring high-quality childcare and positive outcomes for children and staff.
  3. Communicate regularly with management about activities and progress, and coordinate short and medium-term planning aligned with business and curriculum requirements.
  4. Maintain good communication skills, including listening, questioning, and understanding children’s and colleagues’ communications.
  5. Work as part of a multi-agency team, understanding and respecting roles of other professionals, sharing information timely for child safety and well-being.
  6. Support the management team in planning and curriculum implementation, possibly stepping into a Deputy Head role when needed.
  7. Develop marketing strategies for the nursery and build positive relationships with partners.
  8. Respond to audit recommendations and develop key relationships with all partners.
  9. Possess a strong knowledge of child development to meet individual children's needs.
  10. Ensure all staff complete necessary tracking and documentation promptly.
  11. Create a positive, engaging environment based on Early Years & Montessori principles.
  12. Maintain excellent hygiene practices.
Location & Company Description:

Wembley Park Montessori is recruiting an experienced Baby Unit Manager for their nursery of 36 places. This is a full-time role (40 hours/week), working shifts between 8 am-6 pm, with at least one half-day off per week.

Salary: £24,960 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Typical Day:

Leading and supporting the team, caring for children’s needs, observing and planning their development, ensuring compliance with legislation, and fostering positive relationships with parents and children.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Level 3 in Childcare or Montessori Diploma (essential)
  • Experience leading a nursery room with children under 5 (essential)
  • Experience in Montessori setting (desired but not essential)
  • Knowledge of current EYFS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive role model and team player
  • Good ICT skills
  • Current DBS certificate (mandatory)
