Job summary

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Exeter, Sowton, part of Grandir UK, is seeking a caring Room Leader to lead the room team and inspire children daily.

You will plan and deliver engaging activities, support individual development, and maintain safeguarding and high standards while building strong relationships with families. Excellent progression opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
• Experience in an Early Years setting.
• Strong understanding of EYFS and safeguarding.
• Ability to lead and support a room team.

Responsibilities

Our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Exeter, Sowton is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Room Leader to join our team. You will play a key role in caring for, supporting, and inspiring our children, encouraging curiosity, and helping them thrive every day.

The nursery has eight bright and spacious rooms, as well as three gardens designed for different age groups, giving you plenty of opportunities to create exciting learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.

You’ll also enjoy delivering engaging activities such as Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, Make and Bake, and Sow and Grow, alongside regular community visits that help children build confidence and meaningful connections.

What You Will Be Doing

Lead and support the room team, creating a positive and welcoming environment for children, families and colleagues.

Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS.

Act as a key person and ensure every child’s individual needs, interests and development are supported.

Observe, assess and track children’s progress, maintaining accurate learning and development records.

Ensure the room is safe, stimulating, well organised and appropriately resourced.

Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers, sharing regular updates about their child’s development.

Support children’s routines, including mealtimes, sleep, toileting and personal care.

Promote inclusion and adapt activities to support children with additional needs.

Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, hygiene and regulatory compliance.

Provide guidance, coaching and feedback to practitioners, apprentices and students.

Organise staff deployment and daily routines to maintain appropriate ratios and effective room cover.

What We’re Looking For

A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.

Previous experience working within an Early Years setting.

A sound understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.

The confidence to lead, motivate and support a room team.

A caring, positive and enthusiastic approach.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and thrive.
