ARM, located in Central London, is seeking a Multi-Disciplinary Rolling Stock Project Engineer to support a Fleet Heavy Overhaul team. You will lead engineering activities, coordinate resources, and ensure safety-compliant overhaul projects are delivered to schedule.

The role requires experience in rail vehicle systems, safety-critical environments, and strong stakeholder management; Chartered Engineer status is preferred.

Rolling Stock Project Engineer - Multi Discipline

Location: Central London

Rate: £500 per day (umbrella)

Contract: 6 months, with potential extension

Start: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Disciplinary Rolling Stock Project Engineer to join a Fleet Heavy Overhaul team, providing engineering support across the delivery of safe, compliant and assured rolling stock overhaul projects.

The successful candidate will lead and support a range of engineering activities, working closely with internal and external stakeholders and coordinating engineering resources where required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support rolling stock engineering activities across overhaul projects.
  • Produce, review and analyse technical documentation.
  • Apply relevant railway standards, legislation and operating requirements.
  • Analyse complex technical data and provide reports and recommendations.
  • Coordinate engineering resources and mentor junior engineers.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Support testing, manufacturing and operation of rolling stock systems.
  • Apply engineering, risk management and project lifecycle principles.
  • Respond to emerging technical issues and agree appropriate actions with stakeholders.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
  • Experience with Rail Vehicle Systems / Rolling Stock Engineering.
  • Experience within rail, ideally London Underground or a similarly complex, safety‑critical environment.
  • Experience producing, reviewing and analysing technical documentation.
  • Knowledge and application of relevant Railway Standards.
  • Experience with rolling stock system design, testing, manufacturing and/or operation.
  • Understanding of maintenance and overhaul requirements.
  • Knowledge of risk management and engineering project lifecycle processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office; MS Project and Power BI would be advantageous.
Qualifications
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent engineering qualifications/experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
