Job summary

Randstad CPE is currently seeking an experienced Roller Operative to join a major earthworks project based in Darlington. The role focuses on operating ride-on rollers, achieving target compaction, and supporting groundworks teams on site.

Applicants must hold a valid CPCS or NPORS card with Ride-on Roller endorsement, have proven earthworks experience, and be committed to safe plant operation and teamwork. Immediate start available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Valid CPCS or NPORS card with Ride-on Roller endorsement.
• Proven experience on large-scale earthworks or groundworks projects.
• Strong reliability, work ethic and ability to work within a team.
• Full PPE (hard hat, high-vis, safety boots).
• CIS registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate ride-on rollers for soil compaction and sub-base preparation across the site.
• Coordinate with groundworkers and excavator operators to meet specified levels and densities.
• Perform daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance of plant machinery.
• Adhere to site health and safety standards and risk assessments.

Job Title: Roller Operative - Earthworks

Location: Darlington

Pay Rate: £21.00 per hour (CIS)

We are currently seeking an experienced Roller Operative to join a major earthworks project based in Darlington.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate ride-on rollers for soil compaction, sub-base preparation, and general earthworks across the site.
• Work closely with groundworkers and excavator operators to ensure specified levels and compaction densities are achieved.
• Perform daily pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and ensure all plant machinery is operated safely.
• Adhere strictly to site health and safety standards and risk assessments.

Requirements:

• Valid CPCS or NPORS card (Ride-on Roller endorsement essential).
• Proven experience working on large-scale earthworks or groundworks projects.
• Full PPE (Hard hat, high-vis, safety boots).
• Valid CIS registration.
• Strong reliability, work ethic, and ability to work effectively within a team.
