Job summary

Rochford District Council is seeking a Senior Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will manage a broad range of building control projects, inspect sites and ensure compliance with Building Regulations, while growing relationships with architects and developers.

Applicants must hold a Building Surveying degree (or equivalent) with MRICS/MCABE/MCIOB and be registered as Class 2 or 3 with the Building Safety Regulator.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent construction discipline.
• Corporate full membership of MRICS, MCABE or MCIOB.
• Registered at Class 2 or 3 with the Building Safety Regulator.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Building Regulations and related legislation on major projects.
• Promote and market the Building Control service to clients and partners.
• Examine submissions to ensure compliance and negotiate improvements.
• Authorize approvals/rejections of drawings within set timeframes and perform fee checks.
• Conduct statutory and non-statutory site inspections and prepare prosecution evidence if needed.
• Liaise with architects, developers and clients to grow the service.

You must self-motivated, be able to work on own initiative and have broad experience in Building Control legislation and enforcement processes.
