Job summary

Fieldwork Robotics is hiring a Fleet Control and Data Acquisition Software Engineer based in Cambridge to design, develop, and optimise modern C++ software for robotic platforms, focusing on fleet control and data acquisition. You will develop real-time data pipelines, assess performance, and work with Open RMF to enable autonomous scheduling.

The role involves collaboration across robotics, vision, ML, mechanical, and electronics teams within an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in an industry software design position.
• A degree or masters in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial experience with modern C++ (C++11–20) and Linux.
• Experience with performance testing, profiling, and software optimisation.
• Experience with databases, ideally PostgreSQL, and data-driven software systems.
• Experience with robotics software development and integration; ROS2 experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop real-time data pipelines to capture, aggregate, transfer, and analyse robotic system data.
• Identify and integrate fleet management frameworks such as Open RMF to support autonomous robot scheduling.

• Test, debug, and validate software performance, reliability, and deployment readiness.
