Job summary

Fieldwork Robotics Ltd. is building an autonomous robotics platform for agricultural harvesting. We are seeking an Electronics / Electrical Engineer to take the Fieldworker v3 into production and to help design Fieldworker v4.0, collaborating across hardware, software and ML teams.

You will own schematic capture, PCB design, and the electronics roadmap, ensuring safety, EMC compliance and cost-down while enabling scalable manufacturing in the UK and abroad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in electronics/electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4+ years of industry electronics design experience.
• Experience interfacing electronics with motors, actuators, encoders, sensors and processors (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi).
• Knowledge of communication interfaces (serial, CANbus, Ethernet) and power circuitry.

Responsibilities

• Schematic capture and PCB design.
• Progress prototype designs to manufacture/small-scale production.
• Reduce electronics/electrical BoM cost.
• Achieve Machinery Safety and EMC compliance (UK/EU, later AU/US).
• Develop verification and validation plans.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, and ML/MLV teams.
• Produce technical documentation and manage external manufacturing partners.
• Own the electronics/electrical product roadmap.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

• Schematic capture and PCB design
• Progress existing prototype designs to manufacture/small-scale production
• Reduce the electronics/electrical BoM cost
• Achieve Machinery Safety and EMC compliance (UK and EU, followed by Australia and US)
• Rapidly develop and test proof of concept solutions and new features
• Develop verification and validation plans
• Work closely with the Mechanical, Software, and Machine Learning / Machine Vision teams
• Technical documentation (e.g. requirements, design, test, reports, and manufacture)
• Debug issues at PCB and system level
• Work with external manufacturing partners
• Product roadmap (in terms of electronics/electrical)

What You’ll Be Working On:

• Take the Fieldworker v3 robot into production and achieve UK CA / CE marking working with our UK safety consultant and our UK manufacturing Partner
• Take the Fieldworker v3 robot into production and achieve Australia safety compliance with an Australian safety consultant and our Australian manufacturing Partner
• Working collaboratively with the engineering team and ops teams to Develop the Fieldworker v4.0 architecture
• Working collaboratively with the engineering team to design, build and deploy the Fieldworker v4.0 into global production
• Contribute the IP strategy and portfolio
• Contribute to the Fieldwork Robotics product roadmap, own the electronics, electrical and safety roadmap
• Understand the commercial drivers for the Fieldwork Robotics solution offering and contribute to their success through design, cost down, reliability and innovation
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in electronics / electrical engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 4+ years of industry experience in electronics design
• Experience designing electronics to interface with:
  • motors, actuators, and encoders
  • sensors
  • application processors (e.g. NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi)
• Experience with:
  • Communication interfaces and standard busses (e.g. serial, CANbus, Ethernet)
  • power circuitry
  • simple safety circuits
  • machinery safety
  • compliance testing
• Able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision to drive work to completion
• Ability to work on multiple projects while managing own time and priorities to achieve agreed timelines and outcomes
• Excellent communications skills
• 3+ years of industry experience in the robotics/automation/machinery environment
• Experience designing electronics to interface with robot odometry (e.g. IMU, GPS, RTK)
