Job description

Equans is looking for a Roadworker to join our team in our North East Lincolnshire Partnership in Grimsby on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. Overtime may be required. On offer is a salary between £23,000 and £27,000, depending on experience, and a benefits package.

The individual will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the highway to ensure it is safe for all users, focusing on safety, serviceability, and sustainability.

What will you deliver?
  1. Erection and removal of traffic management following the Safety at Streetworks and Roadworks Code of Practice.
  2. Driving highway vehicles and tippers, subject to license, training, and competency.
  3. Operating powered plant and equipment safely, such as compaction equipment, masonry cutters, and pedestrian rollers, with proper license and training.
  4. Mixing, laying, and compacting bituminous materials, mortars, cements, and concretes; laying precast kerbs, slabs, and paving.
  5. Erecting, fixing, cleaning, and dismantling highway street furniture, including traffic signs and guardrails.
  6. Reconstructing inspection chambers, catchpits, and road gullies, and adjusting covers and gratings.
  7. Completing accurate records, including timesheets and vehicle inspections.
  8. Delivering all work in compliance with Equans SHEQ standards and ISO policies.

Who are we looking for?
  • Experience in construction activities preferred; training provided.
  • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions and maintain records.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Commitment to professional development.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to participate in out-of-hours work.
  • Preferably hold Category C driving license, Driver CPC, and experience with highway tipper vehicles.
  • Preferably hold City and Guilds Streetworks Operative Accreditation or be trained in Chapter 8 Traffic Signing and Guarding.
