RAC is hiring a Roadside Vehicle Technician in Newbury. You’ll be part of Reading and Oxford clusters, traveling locally to get members back on the road. You’ll have your RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools, and diagnostic kit provided, with a base salary of £42,921.87 plus an average OTE of £43k–£53k.

You’ll start and end your day at home, work is nationwide, and you’ll deliver expert roadside repair while delivering outstanding member service.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Handle faults from flat battery to complex fault-finding with quick, confident solutions.
• Start and end your day at home while visiting members in your local area.

Where you'll work

You'll be part of the Reading cluster, covering areas like Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley-on-Thames, Crowthorne, Sandhurst. You'll also be part of the Oxford cluster, covering areas like Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Witney, Bicester, Thame. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you'll need

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You’ll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head on and making a real impact on the roadside – combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service. We'll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
