Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division. You’ll diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs, and support members across the UK. You’ll work from home for start and end of day, traveling locally to serve customers with your RAC van and diagnostic kit.

We provide a base salary of £42,921.87, with an average OTE of £43,000 to £53,000, and a range of benefits designed to support your growth and wellbeing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Troubleshoot faults, perform diagnostics, and carry out repairs to get members back on the road.
• Start and end shifts from home, using RAC van, tools, and diagnostic kit.

Where you'll work

You'll be part of the Reading cluster, covering areas like Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley-on-Thames, Crowthorne, Sandhurst.

You'll be part of the Oxford cluster, covering areas like Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Witney, Bicester, Thame. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What you'll need

Either:

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experienceor5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

You'll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside - combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.
