Job summary

RAC is seeking a Nights Roadside Technician in the Leicester cluster. Youll start and end at home, focusing daily on getting members back on the road in your local area with a RAC van and full tools.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or 2+ years experience.
• Or: 5+ years experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics, and breakdown support across the UK.
• Deliver quick, confident solutions and reassurance to RAC members on scene.
• Work from home base but cover local cluster areas with RAC van and tools provided.

Where youll work

You’ll be part of the Leicester cluster, covering areas like Leicester, Oadby, Wigston, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray, and Market Harborough, Loughborough. We organise work locally so you can start and finish at home, focusing your day on getting members back on the road in your local area.

What youll need:

• Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years experience
• Or: 5+ years experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, youll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether its a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, youll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.

Youll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside, combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

Well set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
