Job summary

Roadside Technician (field-based) is required to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company, based in Ayr. The role offers a great salary, benefits, overtime, and bonus opportunities.

Must have the right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence with up to 6 points. The position is permanent/full-time with 40 hours weekly, shifts 6am–12am, Mon-Sun, and potential OTE exceeding £60,000, with opportunities to earn £70k–£80k+.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or mobile role.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
• Must have a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
