Aviva plc in Southampton seeks a Roadside Technician for Green Flag Patrol. You’ll diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs, and assist customers to get back on the road.

You’ll drive a fully equipped patrol vehicle and work daytime hours with no nights, in a role that balances independence with strong support. The position includes a £37,740 base salary, annual bonus up to £4,530, a generous pension, and 25 days plus bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical background with diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK Category B driving licence.
• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance preferred or hands-on experience.
• Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle repair techniques and safe practices.
• Ability to work independently with clear customer communication.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle faults and perform roadside repairs.
• Complete tyre repairs and wheel changes onsite.
• Test and replace batteries as needed.
• Provide fuel assistance when required and explain faults clearly.
• Work independently using a fully equipped Green Flag patrol vehicle.

A bit about the job

As a Roadside Technician, you'll be the first point of contact for customers who have broken down, providing expert assistance and excellent customer service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing vehicle faults and carrying out roadside repairs

• Completing tyre repairs and wheel changes

• Testing and replacing batteries

• Providing fuel assistance when required

• Explaining faults and solutions clearly to customers

• Working independently using a fully equipped Green Flag patrol vehicle

• Helping customers get safely back on the road as quickly as possible

Skills and Experience We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

• A strong mechanical background with good diagnostic and problem-solving skills

• A full UK Category B driving licence

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) preferred, although relevant hands-on experience or apprenticeship experience will also be considered

• Up-to-date knowledge of vehicle repair techniques

• A commitment to safe working practices

• The ability to work independently and make decisions confidently

• Good communication and customer service skills

• A calm and professional approach when helping customers
