Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) to join a national breakdown company. You will attend roadside incidents, diagnose faults, perform mechanical and electrical repairs, and provide temporary solutions to keep members mobile.

Requirements include Level 2/3 qualifications in light vehicle maintenance, 2 years post-qualification experience, and a full UK driving licence. Based in Plymouth with 40-hour weeks and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or Level 3 equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
• Customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
