Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Roadside Technician in Cheltenham/Tewkesbury area. You will diagnose and repair vehicles at the roadside, delivering quick, confident solutions to RAC members across the UK.

Starting with a base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with overtime and bonuses for top performers. You will work ~40 hours per week with optional overtime, starting and finishing at home.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• 2+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Perform expert roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Support members with quick, confident solutions and reassurance on the roadside.

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' experience, you'll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

What you'll need

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience

or

• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

You'll start and end your day at home, tackling challenges head-on and making a real impact on the roadside — combining your technical expertise with outstanding member service.

We'll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
