Job summary

RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to join the Patrol division. Based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, you’ll perform mechanical roadside repairs and diagnostics, delivering quick, confident solutions to our members.

With a base salary of £36,400 and a realistic £60,000 OTE, top performers can earn more through bonuses and enhanced overtime. RAC provides a van, tools, uniform and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance to RAC members at the roadside.
• Operate safely and professionally, with a focus on member service and problem solving.

Join the team that keeps the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' experience, you'll receive:

• A market-competitive base salary of £36,400 and a realistic OTE of £60,000, with top-performers earning significantly more through bonuses and enhanced overtime rates.
• Start and finish on your driveway. Demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week, with optional overtime available.

What you'll need.

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience

or

• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

We’ll set you up for success from day one, with your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kit all provided.
