Job Title: Electrical & Controls Technician

Location: Melton Mowbray, East Midlands

Contract: Permanent

Shift Pattern: 12‑hour rotating 3‑shift system (7‑7 day, 7‑7 night, 4 off)

Salary: £51,900‑£56,000 (including shift allowances, DOE) + performance bonus

Overview

At Mars Petcare we are at the forefront of high‑speed food processing. This role focuses on troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance of complex process and high‑speed food processing equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Repair, adjust, and maintain processing, filling, conveying, and packaging machinery using established maintenance reliability practices.
  • Provide equipment troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance; transition to preventive maintenance as troubleshooting requirements are met.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams and new project activities.
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on major breakdowns.
  • Develop, track, and communicate maintenance metrics to reduce recurring equipment issues.
  • Work with automated and electromechanical equipment such as ABB/Kuka robotics, Allen Bradley PLCs, and predictive maintenance tools.
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4 apprenticeship or equivalent in electrical engineering or related field; BS 7671 knowledge.
  • Practical electrical engineering skills and experience with precision instrumentation repair and calibration.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, curiosity, and drive to improve processes.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining automated or electromechanical machinery.
  • Ability to adapt to various electrical power supplies and control systems.
