Job summary

The AA is looking for a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to join its nationwide team in the United Kingdom. You will start and finish from your driveway, working across varied locations and conditions as part of a supportive crew.

You’ll use your technical skills and clear communication to help drivers get back on the road quickly. With an NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and a valid Category B licence (6 points or less), you’ll thrive on problem solving in real roadside situations, including

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications.
• Full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less.
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology with provided tools.
• Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Start and finish on your driveway; paid from entry to home.
• Work independently across varied locations and conditions, while part of a supportive team.
• Use technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Resolve roadside issues on the spot with calm, technical approach.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
