Job summary

The AA is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to join our nationwide team. You’ll be on the road most of the day, starting from your home driveway and finishing when you return, with a 40-hour week and shift patterns to suit your personal needs.

You’ll deliver on-the-spot repairs and customer reassurance in varied locations and weather. You’ll use your technical skills and clear communication to restore drivers’ day, work independently yet be part of a supportive team, and progress through

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience.
• Full UK driving licence (category B) with 6 points or less.
• Willingness to adapt to new technology and tools provided.
• Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Starting and finishing on your driveway, paid from start to finish.
• Work independently across varied locations and conditions within a team.
• Use technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve roadside issues with calm, professional approach.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
