Job summary

The AA is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to join our nationwide patrol team. You’ll start and finish your day on the road, earning a fixed base plus allowances and OTE potential, with shifts designed to fit your life while delivering prompt customer recovery.

In this role you’ll diagnose and repair on-site, communicate clearly with members, and work safely across varied locations. A passion for helping drivers and reliability are essential, with training provided and a supportive team

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
• Full category B driving licence with 6 points or less
• Ability to use new tech and diagnose roadside issues
• Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays

• Start and finish on driveway; paid from entry to return home
• Work independently across varied locations and conditions

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
