Job summary

The AA is seeking a Roadside Rescue Mechanic in Brighton to join our field operations. You’ll be the friendly face, arriving prepared to get drivers back on the road with professional, on-site service across diverse locations.

You’ll use your vehicle maintenance skills and strong communication to diagnose problems quickly, explain solutions, and complete services with safety and care in any weather, any time.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
• Full Category B driving licence with 6 points or less
• Willingness to adapt to new technologies and tools
• Flexible to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

• Start and finish remotely from the driveway, paid from entry to home
• Work independently across varied locations and conditions
• Use technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience
• Resolve roadside issues on the spot with calm, professional handling

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
