Job summary

The AA is hiring a Roadside Rescue Mechanic to support members across the UK. You will start and finish from your driveway, earning a guaranteed base plus allowances and an OTE up to £60,000 for top performers.

You’ll often work independently at varied locations, using technical knowledge to resolve breakdowns and keep drivers moving. Expect 40-hour weeks with flexible shift patterns, a strong team network, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• Full UK driving licence with 6 points or less
• Comfort using new technology and tools provided
• Flexibility to work shift patterns including evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
