Job summary

Conwy County Borough Council seeks a Road Worker to join the Open Spaces Team. The role involves maintaining, repairing and constructing roads, footpaths and highways, including resurfacing and pothole repairs, with traffic management and winter gritting when required.

Work is outdoors in all weathers, with weekend and night work on occasions and an out-of-hours call-out rota. A current HGV licence is essential and Welsh language skills are a plus.

• Carry out road maintenance, including resurfacing, pothole repairs and laying tarmac.
• Maintain, repair and construct roads, footpaths and highways so they are safe and accessible for the public.
• Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
• Set up traffic management systems, including signage and barriers.
• Ensure work complies with health and safety standards.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions as part of a team.
• Assist with emergency response repairs as required.
• Take part in the out-of-hours call-out duty rota.
• Take part in the winter gritting rota.
• Work weekends and nights on occasions as part of the normal working week.
