Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a Surfacing Operative to join our road surfacing team at Tormitchell Quarry, Girvan. You will assist in laying and finishing asphalt, operating surfacing plant, and performing site labour as part of a skilled crew. Night shifts are required.

The role involves outdoor work, travel to sites, and a commitment to safety and quality. Training will be provided, with opportunities for progression and long‑term development within Breedon.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team on outdoor road surfacing projects.
• Commitment to working safely and following procedures.
• Willingness to adapt to night shifts and different sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laying, raking, levelling and finishing asphalt materials.
• Support operation of surfacing plant, tools and equipment.
• Carry out site preparation and general labouring before, during, and after surfacing works.
• Work with Foreperson and crew to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Conduct basic maintenance of plant, equipment and PPE.
• Follow site instructions and company procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Report safety concerns, incidents or defects promptly.
• Be flexible to work across sites and shifts, including nights.
