Job summary

Tarmac Cross Green, Leeds, is recruiting a Multi Skilled Road Surfacing Operative to join a team serving Yorkshire and surrounding areas. You will operate road surfacing plant, lay coated materials to spec, and ensure safety and quality on major highways projects.

The role requires proven asphalt laying experience, plant tickets, and a proactive hands-on approach with flexibility in location/hours. CSCS preferred and full UK licence are advantageous.

Qualifications

• You’ll already have practical experience within road surfacing laying coated materials ideally across highways environments.
• Experience in asphalt laying and road surfacing.
• Ability to operate surfacing plant with relevant plant tickets.
• Experience on larger infrastructure or motorway projects.
• CSCS card preferred and full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate road surfacing plant and equipment such as pavers, rollers, tractors, chippers and related machinery.
• Work with hot coated materials on live construction and highways environments.
• Ley coated materials in line with specifications and BS tolerances.
• Carry out daily plant checks and basic maintenance.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and site safety compliance.
• Promote safe working practices and address unsafe behaviours on site.

Road Surfacing Operative Cross Green Location: Cross Green, Leeds, West Yorkshire Experienced in road surfacing? Confident operating surfacing plant? Looking for steady work across major highways projects? If so, this could be the role for you. We're looking for a Multi Skilled Road Surfacing Operative to join our friendly team based out of Tarmac Cross Green, Leeds , covering Yorkshire and the surrounding region. This is a hands on, safety critical role delivering high quality surfacing on some of the area's most important infrastructure projects.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Gang Supervisor , you'll be a key part of a multi-skilled surfacing team delivering works safely, efficiently and to specification. Your role will include:

• Operating road surfacing plant and equipment such as pavers, rollers, tractors, chippers and associated machinery
• Working with hot coated materials on live construction and highways environments
• Laying coated materials in line with specifications and BS tolerances
• Carrying out day-to-day plant checks and basic maintenance
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
• Playing an active role in zero harm, behavioural safety and site compliance
• Promoting safe working practices and challenging unsafe behaviours on site

What we're looking for

You’ll already have practical experience within road surfacing laying coated materials ideally across highways environments such as motorways, A' roads and airfields.

• Previous experience in asphalt laying and road surfacing
• Proven ability to operate surfacing plant, with relevant plant tickets
• Experience working on larger infrastructure or motorway projects
• CSCS card (preferred)
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a gang
• Good communication skills and a proactive, hands on attitude
• Flexible approach to working hours and locations
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality standards

Location: this role is easily accessible from Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley, Garforth, Selby, Wetherby, Harrogate, York and the surrounding areas.
