Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a Road Safety Coordinator to join the Road Safety Education, Training and Publicity Team on a permanent basis. Based at County Hall, Chichester with hybrid working, you will support planning, coordination and delivery of cycle training and related projects to promote safe and accessible cycling across the county.

You will provide advice to diverse audiences, analyse data to inform progress, and assist with campaigns, web pages and communications.

Salary: £28,153 to £29,542 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time - 37 hours per week
Location: Based atCounty Hall, West Street, Chichester PO19 1RQ with hybrid working.

We are looking for a Road Safety Coordinator to join our team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will work within the Road Safety Education, Training and Publicity (ETP) Team and support the planning, coordination and delivery of cycle training and ETP projects/programmes. These projects and programmes contribute to the Council’s organisational objectives to enable us to promote safe and accessible cycling within the community.

This role will ensure that projects and programmes run smoothly and are delivered in line with the plan to the highest of standards. You will be providing advice and guidance to a wide range of audiences in line with the Council’s initiatives and strategies.

The Opportunity

As a Road Safety Coordinator, you will provide an efficient and effective, customer focused, advisory, administrative service to a wide range of audiences. You will be responsible for supporting effective marketing, promotion and communication around our initiatives and programmes. You will be responsible for the development, planning and implementation of specific campaigns and web pages.

You will be responsible for supporting and raising awareness of initiatives at a local level, through a variety of mediums. You will need to be able to interpret, collate and analyse information and statistics to inform our performance and progress.

This role will require an element of physical activity to support on delivering resources around the county. This could include lifting bikes from racks for example.

About you

Some of the key skills, experience and knowledge required to be successful in the role include:

• Ability to work in a customer focused way, enabling you to gain trust and providing a high-quality customer service.
• Demonstratable administrative experience to provide effective administrative support that manages records and maintains accurate information.
• Sounds communication and interpersonal skills and experience to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and maintain relationships.
• Experience of providing accurate and timely advice and guidance to a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret information with the ability to problem solve and plan over the short term.
• Experience of working in partnership with external bodies, volunteers and agencies.
• Sound and accurate IT skills and knowledge of standard office applications to produce clear and concise information, reports and monitor statistics.
• It’s also highly desirable to have experience of implementing policies in response to new or amended legislation from the Government.
• A full clean driving license is essential as you will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes are available.
