Job summary

Tarmac is recruiting a Multi Skilled Operative – Road Planing. You’ll report to the Planing Foreman and support highways planing operations, travelling to sites such as Berkshire, Hampshire, and Wales with occasional overnight stays.

This 40-hour role may include days, evenings or nights with overtime paid at a premium and weekend work at higher rates. Flexibility and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a road planer or heavy plant machinery with training provided.
• Full UK manual driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery, vehicles and tools; ensure equipment is safe and report defects.
• Be trained, authorised and wear the correct PPE at all times.
• Follow safety requirements and company procedures for employees and sub-contractors.
• Complete site-specific documentation and attend inductions and briefings.
• Identify hazards and promote a strong safety culture through reporting processes.
• Support environmental best practice across all work activities.
