Job summary

PHL Group in Cleveland is seeking a Forensic Healthcare Professional to assess and treat detainees in police custody, providing clinical assessments and gathering forensic evidence. The role is 21 hours per week, overnight on weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) with full training provided.

You must be a registered RN or Paramedic with UK driving license and NMC/HCPC registration. DBS checks and Level 2 NPPV clearance are required to begin. Excellent English and UK residency are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Paramedic with minimum 3 years’ service.
• Full membership of the NMC or HCPC.
• Full UK driving license with access to your own vehicle for business use.
• Competent in oral and written English.
• Have been continuously resident in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Ability to be cleared through the Police Vetting system: Level 2 NPPV clearance.
• A DBS check is required for this post. PHL will undertake an initial check at the appropriate level on appointment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and address health needs of detainees in custody.
• Gather forensic samples and document findings accurately.
• Provide advice to Custody Officers and determine fitness to be detained or released.
• Maintain detailed records ensuring health, safety and welfare.
• Ensure adherence to Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 codes of practice.
