Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention care with assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assess patient needs and develop/revise individualized care plans based on patient responses; evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Act as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills for the patient population served.
  5. Serve as preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or clinician as needed.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary team for effective planning and management.
  7. Model professional behavior, supporting hospital and nursing goals.
  8. Understand growth and development principles, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinate care and delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
  10. Document patient care accurately, meeting all standards, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety.
  11. Maintain competency in nursing skills and equipment use specific to the unit.
  12. Prioritize patient care according to Evidence-Based Practice Standards.
  13. Identify problems and resolve them effectively.
  14. Delegate duties considering patient needs and team members' capabilities.
  15. Communicate patient condition and unit concerns clearly to team members.
  16. Provide compassionate care, creating a therapeutic environment.
  17. Be aware of legal issues and patient rights.
  18. Collaborate on training and support for new staff and students.
  19. Maintain regular, punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  20. Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
  21. Contribute to professional development, quality improvement, and organizational outcomes.
  22. Participate in or lead committees on nursing practice and performance improvement.
  23. Engage in peer review, mentoring, and coaching.
  24. Use supplies efficiently and keep the work area safe and organized.
  25. Attend relevant training, meetings, and participate in identifying development needs.
  26. Take responsibility for ongoing professional growth and education.
  27. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets all competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific unit.

Licensure/Certification: Current Alabama RN license or valid multistate RN license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain units, with NRP necessary for NICU.
