Position Summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital

At Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital, the RN administers patient care in an inpatient or observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post-intervention care with assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Assesses patient needs and develops/revises an individualized care plan based on patient responses. Evaluates patient progress toward expected outcomes.
  2. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with team members and patients.
  3. Acts as a patient and family advocate.
  4. Provides age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge and skills suitable for the patients served.
  5. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, educator, or nurse clinician as needed.
  6. Collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to plan and manage patient care.
  7. Supports hospital and nursing department goals by serving as a role model.
  8. Understands growth and development principles, assesses patient data, and interprets information to meet age-specific needs.
  9. Coordinates patient care and delegates tasks appropriately.
  10. Documents care accurately, meeting all standards, including assessments, education, medication administration, and safety measures.
  11. Maintains competency in nursing skills and equipment use as per unit standards.
  12. Prioritizes patient care based on evidence-based standards.
  13. Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
  14. Delegates tasks considering patient needs and staff capabilities.
  15. Communicates patient status and unit concerns effectively to team members.
  16. Provides compassionate, therapeutic care environments.
  17. Adheres to legal standards and respects patient rights.
  18. Supports new staff and students through collaboration with education and leadership teams.
  19. Maintains regular attendance in line with policies and regulations.
  20. Ensures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
  21. Contributes to ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
  22. Participates in or leads committees related to nursing practice and performance improvement.
  23. Engages in peer review, mentoring, and coaching activities.
  24. Practices efficiently, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

Education/Training: Graduate of an approved nursing school. Meets competency requirements for Baptist Health, Orlando Health, and the specific department.

Licensure/Certification: Current Alabama RN license or valid eNLC multistate license. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Additional certifications such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for specific units, with NRP necessary for NICU.
