RME-WHS Project Manager, High Risk Operations Team

The Regional Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, EU RME, provides support and partnership to one or more of the Europe Reliability & Maintenance Engineering pillars, including areas such as Europe Customer Fulfilment (EUCF), Amazon Logistics (EUAMZL), Amazon Transportation Services (EUATS), and Global Specialty Fulfilment & Retail (EUGSF). This role involves supporting RME pillars in execution and engaging with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across WHS, RME, and other functions to improve network WHS standards and procedures. The individual supports program execution and collaborates with the WHS RME Regional Manager to develop WHS programs, procedures, training, and capital projects.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Develop strong relationships with RME and WHS stakeholders for supported pillars.
  2. Establish incident investigation, escalation, and reporting structures for timely root cause analysis.
  3. Assess risks in maintenance operations, implement reduction measures, communicate policies, and track completion.
  4. Review KPIs and incidents to determine the need for WHS Alerts or RME Safety Network Actions and facilitate content development.
  5. Partner with High Risk Operations, OEMs, Ops Engineering, and other teams on equipment-related incidents and design improvements.
  6. Support RME leadership in technician engagement, safety issue escalation, stop work authority, and peer review safety programs.

Our goal is proactive, comprehensive risk reduction that evolves continuously.

About the team

The RME WHS team is part of High-Risk Operations, dedicated to managing the highest safety risks associated with machinery, equipment, and contractors. We take an end-to-end approach, pursuing all risk reduction opportunities aligned with the risk control hierarchy. We influence safety behaviors through analysis, engagement initiatives, and lessons learned, supporting RME teams with policies, standards, and continuous improvement programs to maintain world-class safety standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in program or project management
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) and SQL
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent as per the European Qualifications Framework (EQF)
  • Degree in safety, industrial or quality engineering, safety/health sciences, RME, or Business Administration
  • Experience in Safety, RME, Engineering, Quality, or Operations
  • Experience overseeing programs like Fall Hazard Control, Electrical Safe Work, LOTO, Conveyors, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, Fire Protection, PIT and aerial lifts, Cranes, Rigging
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree
  • Certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or CHMM
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and ISO 45000
  • Experience deploying automated reporting systems (e.g., Gensuite)
  • Six Sigma Belt or Green Belt certification
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Experience in technical writing, standards, or programs
  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced, changing environments
