Job summary

Severn Trent Water in Derby is recruiting for a Rivers and Flooding Team support role. You’ll provide operational and project support, ensuring colleagues have access to accurate information to help customers, and you’ll work with incident teams during storm events.

Based at the Raynesway Site with travel across the Severn Trent Region, the role is 37 hours per week and focuses on coordinating activities, maintaining documentation, monitoring schedules and costs, and delivering performance

Qualifications

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience analysing and presenting data using Microsoft Office and Power BI.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and project support to Rivers and Flooding Team, enabling access to accurate information for customers.
  • Coordinate activities, maintain project documentation and collaboration workspaces.

This role provides vital operational and project support to the Rivers and Flooding Team, ensuring colleagues have access to accurate and up-to-date information to effectively support customers. During storm events and incidents, the role works closely with operational teams and planners to provide timely information, support job dispatch, deliver back-office assistance, and maintain on-call rotas to ensure operational readiness.

The role also supports the successful delivery of flood mitigation projects by coordinating activities, maintaining project documentation and collaboration workspaces, monitoring schedules, budgets, resources and costs, and producing performance insights and reports. Working across a range of internal teams, the role helps ensure effective communication, informed decision-making, and the smooth delivery of both operational and project objectives.

You’ll be based at our Raynesway Site in Derby, however travel across the Sever Trent Region will be required. You’ll work within Rivers and Flooding Team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

To be successful in this role, you will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of coordinating multiple projects while managing competing priorities. You'll have experience producing accurate reports, analysis, and performance insights, as well as strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and presentation skills. The ability to build productive working relationships, facilitate meetings, and drive progress against agreed actions is essential.

You will also bring a proactive, solution-focused approach, using strong analytical and IT skills to collect, interpret, and present data effectively. Experience working with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Word, and PowerPoint is important, alongside an understanding of project governance, compliance requirements, and business processes. A genuine interest in flood resilience, river health, and continuous improvement will help you thrive in the role.
