Assystem invites a skilled Risk Manager to join our team in Helensburgh. The role focuses on identifying, analysing and addressing risks across the client programme, engaging with stakeholders to keep the project on track and aligned with safety and security requirements.

The successful candidate will lead risk registers, coordinate with the Joint Programme Team, and deliver regular risk dashboards while ensuring governance and compliance in a high-regulation environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in Risk Management.
• Lead or Sole Risk Manager experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of risk management processes, frameworks and governance.
• Ability to analyse complex data to develop a strategic view of risk exposure.

Job Description

Summary of the Role

The Risk Manager will identify, analyse and respond to risks that arise over the life cycle of a Client programme to help ensure the programme remains on track and meets its goal whilst engaging with stakeholders including other Risk Managers regularly.

Infrastructure project delivery is a challenging environment, with interdependencies between a number of programmes and projects against the need to maintain the military outputs of an operational naval base. The candidate will be required to deliver at pace and demonstrate effective application of programme and project management skills, tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the Tranche 4 (NBCC Euston) risk register, ensuring risks are accurately identified, assessed and managed.
• Collaborate with Joint Programme Team (JPT) risk leads to support the development of the wider programme risk profile.
• Chair monthly risk review meetings, facilitate risk workshops, produce meeting minutes and deliver monthly risk dashboards.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities, supporting the development and implementation of effective mitigation plans.
• Conduct regular reviews of risks to eliminate duplication, ensure quality and maintain a manageable risk portfolio.
• Monitor and report on mitigation actions, tracking progress and ensuring risks are reducing over time.
• Support Quantitative Risk Analysis activities, including Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) and Cost Risk Analysis (CRA), and report on modelling outputs.
• Lead assumptions management and maintain the Master Data and Assumptions List (MDAL).
• Provide strategic risk insights and risk profiling across programme activities and timelines.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships, promoting collaboration, trust and effective risk management practices.
• Manage relationships with industry partners and suppliers, monitoring performance and addressing emerging issues.
• Ensure compliance with project processes, governance requirements and key infrastructure

• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Risk Management, including experience as a Lead or Sole Risk Manager.
• Available to work on-site 2-4 days per week, depending on business requirements.
• Strong knowledge of risk management processes, frameworks and governance.
• Ability to analyse complex data and information to develop a strategic view of risk exposure.
• Experience identifying trends and providing meaningful risk insights and reporting.
• Experience delivering risk management within major infrastructure projects/programmes.
• Proven ability to manage delivery teams and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong IT and reporting skills.
• In-depth understanding of the infrastructure, construction or government project environment.
• Ability to communicate and influence effectively at senior and executive level.
• Adaptable and able to respond quickly to changing business priorities and project risks.
• Experience managing risk within complex, live operational environments.
• Experience working within collaborative, multi-disciplinary programme teams.

Additional Information

This role is primarily based in Helensburgh and due to the nature of the role will have access to restricted information which will require a sole UK National Citizen with SC clearance to meet the necessary security criteria.

There is a requirement to be on the client site to facilitate workshops, routine meetings and site visits and to engage with the wider NBCC team. This currently is a minimum of 2 days per week but could require more at specific times of the programme and should be flexible to facilitate this.

There will be a requirement to attend meetings and workshops in Glasgow, potentially occasional travel to Abbey Wood in Bristol and external offices of contractors if necessary.
