A leading company in the insurance sector is seeking a Risk Management professional to enhance their enterprise risk management framework. The role involves developing risk strategies, managing risk frameworks, and providing oversight on risk management practices. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in risk management within the insurance industry and a strong academic background.

Arch Insurance International provides underwriting solutions across a diverse and growing portfolio, spanning multiple platforms in the Lloyd’s Market, London Company Market, UK Regional Market, Australia, Bermuda and the EU. The main purpose of the role is to ensure the operation of an effective and robust enterprise risk management framework by partnering with a number of first line functions to:
Contribute to the continuous development of the Risk Framework.
Provide value adding insight and analysis of the risks impacting Arch Insurance International.
This role is based in London, and the role holder may be required to visit other Arch offices from time to time.
Responsibilities
Risk Strategy and Risk Appetite
Support the development of the risk strategy and the risk appetite framework, including developing KRIs to assess the level of risk.
Risk Management Framework
A key role in the day-to-day operation of the A.I.I. Risk Management Framework.
Provide oversight and challenge on the management of risks.
Assist stakeholders in identifying risks and facilitate risk and control assessments.
Assist with the investigation and remediation of risk events.
Undertake the control validation process and coordinate this activity for the team.
Appropriately escalate relevant risk issues and work to support remediation.
Perform Risk Reviews of functional areas and thematic topics.
Play a key role in the incremental development and maintenance of the Risk Function’s GRC tool (Decision Focus), including training system users.
Work with the Risk Management team to ensure the Framework stays up to date and reflects evolving best practice.
Ensure the framework remains compliant with relevant regulation and legislation.
Enhance the framework to ensure it remains complete, consistent and is well-embedded.
Draft risk policies and communicate these to stakeholders.
Work with business functions and the Risk Management team to contribute the ‘risk view’ for key projects.
Risk Reporting
Take responsibility for preparing risk and control information for internal and external audiences including relevant Committees and Boards.
Develop, maintain and embed risk and control reporting with internal stakeholders.
Contribute to the completion of the annual ORSA reports.
Attend and present at relevant Working Groups and Committees.
Risk Training
Work with the wider Risk Management team to enhance A.I.I.’s risk management training.
Provide risk management training, and ongoing support, to stakeholders.
People Management and Development
Work effectively as a member of a dynamic team.
Leadership and support of a Risk Analyst, including coaching, setting and reviewing goals and contributing to ongoing performance development.
Role Requirements & Skills
Experience
At least 5 years risk management experience in the insurance sector, preferably with both Lloyd’s and London Market carriers.
Extensive knowledge and experience of operating risk management frameworks.
Skills / Competencies
Up to date knowledge of the UK regulatory environment.
Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Strong written and spoken communication skills.
Strong numeracy skills.
Ability to prioritise and challenge.
Preferably GRC tool experience, particularly Decision Focus.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office applications at a minimum.
Inclusive leadership skills and the ability to proactively develop Analysts.
Must be aligned with Arch’s values and behaviours, including being a committed team player and having a positive mindset.
Qualifications
Strong academic background with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
A relevant professional qualification e.g. Risk Management, Insurance or Accountancy.
