Job summary

SEA Ltd, a defence technology company, is seeking a Programme Risk Manager to oversee risk across SEA programmes, projects and bids, helping teams identify and report threats and opportunities throughout the lifecycle.

Based at Beckington, Bristol or Barnstaple with flexible working, the role focuses on risk governance, data quality, and risk reporting to support informed decision-making on complex, high-assurance projects.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in P3M, project controls or risk management with formal accreditation desirable; working toward accreditation considered
  • Significant experience managing risk in complex defence/engineering programmes or similar high-assurance sectors
  • Facilitation of risk workshops, maintaining RAIDO/risk registers, developing mitigation plans and producing decision-ready risk reporting
  • Working knowledge of integrated project controls and how risk, schedule, cost, change, assumptions and dependencies interact across the lifecycle
  • Experience supporting bids and live delivery programmes with risk inputs to estimates, schedules, governance and reporting
  • Proficiency with Excel and risk tools; experience with MS Project, Power BI, ARM, @Risk, PRA, Safran or equivalents advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain risk governance, risk reviews, workshops, escalation routes and decision-ready reporting
  • Maintain high-quality risk, opportunity, assumption, issue and dependency data aligned to objectives, cost and schedule
  • Support qualitative and quantitative risk analysis to improve delivery confidence and contingency planning

About The Role

Risk Manager will be based at either our Beckington, Bristol or Barnstaple sites. This role allows for flexible working.

The salary for this role is up to £53k, depending on experience.

Whatyou’llbedoing
  • Establish and maintain robust risk management governance, including risk reviews, risk workshops, escalation routes, and decision-ready risk reporting
  • Maintain high-quality risk, opportunity, assumption, issue and dependency information, ensuring risk exposure is understood and actively managed against programme objectives, cost, schedule and OQOTOC commitments
  • Support qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, including cost and schedule risk inputs, to improve delivery confidence, contingency planning and evidence-based decision making

theskills you need
  • Relevant P3M, project controls or risk management qualification, with formal APM accreditation such as PMQ, MoR or equivalent desirable; candidates actively working towards relevant accreditation will be considered
  • Significant experience managing risk in complex systems Programme within the defence/engineering sectors, or similar high assurance engineering sector
  • Practical experience facilitating risk workshops, maintaining RAIDO/risk registers, developing mitigation plans and producing decision-ready risk reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of integrated project controls, including how risk, schedule, cost, change, assumptions and dependencies interact across the programme lifecycle
  • Experience supporting bids and live delivery programmes, including risk inputs to estimates, schedules, governance reviews and management reporting
  • Competence with Microsoft Excel and project/risk management tools; experience with Microsoft Project, Power BI, ARM, @Risk, PRA, Safran or equivalent tools would be advantageous.
