Job summary

Our Future Health is seeking a Risk Governance Officer to help embed proportionate risk management across the organisation. You will work with the Risk Governance Manager to coordinate day-to-day risk governance activities, support assurance and risk management processes, and partner with teams to strengthen risk-informed decision making.

The role targets candidates with experience in risk management within complex organisations, strong analytical and reporting skills, and excellent stakeholder

Qualifications

• Experience in risk management, governance, assurance, audit or compliance within a complex organisation.
• Knowledge of enterprise and operational risk management principles.
• Experience coordinating governance, risk review or reporting processes.
• Experience facilitating meetings, workshops or stakeholder discussions.
• Ability to review risk information and provide constructive challenge.
• Strong reporting skills to translate information into clear recommendations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence would be advantageous.
• Professional qualification in risk management (IRM) or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the implementation and embedding of the Risk Management Framework.
• Facilitating risk identification, assessment and review workshops with teams and stakeholders.
• Coordinating the development, maintenance and review of risk registers.
• Reviewing risk information for completeness, consistency and alignment with the framework.
• Producing clear, high-quality risk reporting and management information for governance forums.
• Supporting assurance activities and maintaining governance records and documentation.
• Building relationships and promoting a pragmatic, proportionate approach to risk.

Job description

As Risk Governance Officer, you'll play an important role in helping Our Future Health embed effective and proportionate risk management across the organisation. Working closely with the Risk Governance Manager, you'll coordinate day-to-day risk governance activities, support assurance and risk management processes, and partner with teams across the organisation to strengthen risk-informed decision making. Despite big improvements in healthcare in our lifetimes, today millions of people in the UK still live in poor health as they get older. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective. Our Future Health is the UK's largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

What you'll be doing:

• Coordinating day-to-day risk governance activities and regular risk review and reporting cycles.
• Working with risk owners and stakeholders to maintain accurate risk information, monitor agreed actions and follow up on progress.
• Supporting the implementation and ongoing embedding of Our Future Health's Risk Management Framework.
• Facilitating risk identification, assessment and review workshops with teams and stakeholders.
• Coordinating the development, maintenance and review of organisational and operational risk registers.
• Reviewing risk information for completeness, consistency and alignment with the Risk Management Framework, providing constructive challenge where appropriate.
• Producing clear, high-quality risk reporting, analysis and management information to support governance forums and decision making.
• Supporting assurance activities and maintaining accurate governance records and documentation.
• Building effective relationships across the organisation and helping colleagues take a pragmatic and proportionate approach to risk.
• Supporting continuous improvement across risk governance and the wider Assurance function.

• Experience working in risk management, governance, assurance, audit or compliance within a complex organisation.
• Knowledge of enterprise and operational risk management principles and governance frameworks.
• Experience coordinating recurring governance, risk review or reporting processes.
• Experience facilitating meetings, workshops or stakeholder discussions.
• The ability to review and analyse risk information, identify gaps or inconsistencies and provide constructive challenge.
• The ability to analyse information and communicate it through clear, concise reports and recommendations.
• Experience producing management information, reports or governance papers.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow activities through to completion.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across an organisation.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and the confidence to recognise when issues need to be escalated.
• A proactive, curious and adaptable approach, with an interest in continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence would be advantageous.
• A relevant professional qualification, or working towards one such as those offered by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), would be advantageous but is not essential.

• Competency based interview with with a small cross-functional panel with your potential new manager and some of your stakeholders (60 min).
• It is designed to get a sense of how you collaborate and with stakeholders, and how you'd approach the real-world responsibilities of this role.

From £40,000 per annum basic salary.
