Job summary

Our Future Health UK is seeking a Quality Assurance Officer to help embed quality assurance across the organisation. You will work with the QA Manager and cross-functional teams to coordinate QA activities, maintain document control, and drive continual improvement within the UK's largest health research programme.

This fixed-term role lasts 18 months and supports governance and accreditation efforts. You'll contribute to the development of management systems, produce quality reports, and help

The Quality Assurance Officer will play an important role in supporting and embedding effective quality assurance across Our Future Health. Working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and teams across the organisation, you'll help ensure our quality management processes are effective, well coordinated and continually improving.

You’ll take ownership of key day-to-day quality assurance activities, including document control, audit coordination, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), quality records and reporting. This is a great opportunity to help shape and strengthen quality practices within a growing and complex organisation, while supporting the delivery of the UK's largest ever health research programme.

Despite big improvements in healthcare in our lifetimes, today millions of people in the UK still live in poor health as they get older. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.

Our Future Health will be the UK's largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

This is a Fixed Term contract position for 18 months.

What you'll be doing:

In this role, you'll work with the Quality Assurance Manager and colleagues across Our Future Health to coordinate and deliver operational quality assurance activities and help embed a culture of quality and continual improvement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development, implementation and continual improvement of Our Future Health's management system and quality assurance processes
• Leading the day-to-day delivery of operational quality assurance activities across the organisation
• Owning and coordinating document control, ensuring controlled documents are appropriately maintained, reviewed, approved and accessible
• Coordinating the planning, delivery and follow-up of internal and external audits, assessments and certification activities
• Coordinating corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), monitoring progress and supporting their timely and effective resolution
• Maintaining quality records and assurance evidence to support governance activities and future accreditation requirements
• Producing clear quality reports, analysis and management information to support governance and organisational decision‑making
• Working collaboratively with teams across the organisation to embed effective quality management practices and identify opportunities for improvement
• Supporting the implementation of new quality processes and assurance initiatives as they develop
• Contributing to the continued development of the Assurance function through collaboration, knowledge sharing and good practice

Requirements

We recognise that candidates may have developed relevant experience through different career paths and welcome applications from those who can demonstrate many, though not necessarily all, of the skills and experience listed below:

• Experience supporting quality assurance, quality management, governance, audit or compliance activities within a complex organisation. Experience within healthcare, clinical or research environments would be particularly relevant
• A good understanding of quality management principles, document control and continual improvement approaches
• Experience coordinating activities such as audits, document control, CAPAs or quality improvement initiatives
• Familiarity with quality management standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 15189, ISO 13485 or ISO 27001, or comparable standards
• The ability to analyse information and turn it into clear, useful reports and management information
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate effectively with different stakeholders
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and pragmatic approach to working with multidisciplinary teams
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with curiosity and an interest in continual improvement
• Confidence using Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Atlassian Suite applications would also be useful
• A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. A quality or governance qualification, or working towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential
