Our team

The Risk Data team sits within Model Risk & Analytics (MR&A). We are responsible for keeping our Purpose, Strategic Aims, and Values & Behaviours at the heart of everything we do, ensuring we are a responsible and safe steward of our customers' and investors' money.

This is an exciting time to join our team as we play a key role in bank-wide projects such as BCBS 239. We are responsible for the delivery and accuracy of Non-Retail Risk data, monitoring and validating risk data to enable stakeholders to use it confidently for portfolio analysis, model development, and reporting. We seek someone to help us enhance our capabilities further.

What you'll be doing

• Sourcing and developing new data feeds and datasets across all products.
• Extracting, manipulating, and validating data to support business units and fulfill regulatory obligations.
• Rebuilding, streamlining, and automating existing data processes.
• Providing SME knowledge for Risk data in bank-wide projects.
• Investigating and resolving Data Quality Issues within various data sources and repositories.
• Designing and maintaining controls to ensure data quality and fitness for purpose.
• Supporting senior team members with complex projects.

We need you to have

• Experience in banking, risk management, and data management.
• Familiarity with data mining tools (e.g., SAS, SQL) and MI analysis.
• Understanding of data manipulation and ETL processes.
• A high-level qualification in a numerical or coding discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Logical problem-solving skills for technical and business issues.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential

• Knowledge of risk systems and Virgin Money's data landscape.
• Knowledge of data management industry approaches.
• Understanding of Retail Banking products and Credit Reference Agency reporting.
