Job summary

M&G plc is seeking a senior risk leader to oversee Risk and Controls across Actuarial Modelling & Valuations. You will work with technical teams, senior management, and audit to ensure robust risk management with clear evidence and governance.

You will drive risk-based decisions, build capability through guidance, and collaborate with key stakeholders to support business growth and sound decision-making.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in Risk Management, Controls, Governance, Model Risk, Audit.
• Ability to work with technical teams and senior stakeholders to evidence controls.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management for senior/committee audiences.
• Risk-based decision-making with clear rationale and evidence.
• Experience developing capability through coaching or leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Risk and Controls activities across Actuarial Modelling & Valuations with clear ownership.
• Lead or support regulatory, audit and governance commitments and remediation plans.
• Maintain and enhance proportionate frameworks, policies, standards and governance.
• Coordinate and challenge Risk & Control Self-Assessments and remediation with ownership and timely closure.
• Oversee policy compliance, attestations, inventory, risk appetite monitoring and periodic quality reviews.
• Partner with Financial Controls, Model Validation, other Risk functions, Internal and External Audit to close findings.
• Lead the Risk Champion network and embed best practices across the function.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and improve processes balancing risk with business needs.
