Job Description:

• Role Overview: Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy of the business, in alignment with the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert on Health and Safety, Environmental risk, and Safety Culture at Smiths News, covering road transport and operational yard safety at company and third-party locations.
• Managing company health and safety policies, training programs, and audit processes, ensuring effective and compliant arrangements.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive safety behaviors and culture.
• Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and trade associations, from a safety and legal perspective.
• Investigating incidents and accidents with trained colleagues, escalating issues appropriately, and liaising with emergency services and media when necessary.

About you:

• At least Nebosh Level 3 qualification or equivalent
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated management systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk management qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
• A valid UK driving license (company vehicle may be provided)
